Seeing is believing: Hezbollah terrorism openly promoted on the streets of America

The Islamic Counterterrorism Institute (ICI), which monitors and reports on high risk anti-America religiopolitical groups based in the United States and abroad, tracked the organizers and attendees of a pro-Iranian regime/Hezbollah event dubbed “Husayn Day Peace Walk.” The reality was far, far from peaceful.

The keynote speaker during the deceiving event, Malcolm Shabazz, did not shy away from engaging in racial and religious incitement by demonizing White Christians and attacking Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Dubai while generously showering praise on the Iranian and Syrian regimes as well as the Lebanon-based international terrorism and crime organization Hezbollah. Shabazz accused the moderate Arab Gulf countries of not doing enough for Palestine and extolled the Iranian regime and its proxies and allies as the role model to be followed.

The event took place at Ogawa Plaza in downtown Oakland on Sunday, December 4, 2011.

Hayward Council Member Bill Quirk was lured to attend the “Peace” event only to be shocked by the abhorrent speech of Malcolm Shabazz and the display of militancy by the Walk’s organizers and attendees, many of whom were shamelessly sporting Basij/Pasdaran scarves to demonstrate their loyalty to the anti-America Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

ALERT: A New Campaign by Khomeinists & Co. Against NYPD

I am writing to alert you about a new campaign by several ethnic and religious organizations, including known Khomeinist entities, against the New York Police Department (NYPD). It is absurd to see the citizens in charge of protecting New York, a traumatized city, be subjected to unfair and audacious attacks by domestic organizations that certainly include known Taqiyya-practicing Islamofascist forces.

The initiators of the campaign against NYPD complained in a newly published letter (see below) that “a film containing inaccurate and inflammatory depictions of Islam and Muslims seeking world domination, was being shown to NYPD officers.” There is no inaccuracy here. The teachings of Khomeini, Khamenei, Bin Laden and their likes are not arcane secrets: These sad brutes and murderers are violently anti-America (not to mention anti-humanity) and promote their personal versions of berserk Jihad with the aim of enslaving the world, all of it.

Unfortunately, such dangerous Islamofascist leaders have their dedicated followers here, among us, in the United States, especially in New York. It is crucial for the security of the United States that our law enforcement personnel develop true and comprehensive understanding of the threat posed to our country. American Muslims should be among the first to welcome this and cooperate with the police and the FBI because the American Muslim community is the ecosystem for the bad apples operating in its midst. That’s a fact!

New York, NY – February 3, 2012: The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), one of the nation’s leading Muslim organizations, joined over 31 other faith based organizations in submitting a letter of complaint to New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman demanding an immediate investigation into the New York Police Department’s (NYPD) continuous and systemic targeting of American Muslims based on their race, ethnicity, and religion.

Dear Attorney General Schneiderman:

The undersigned American Muslim, Arab, South Asian, civil rights and civic groups1 write to you regarding the New York Police Department’s (“NYPD”) promotion and use of anti-Muslim training materials, the NYPD’s violations of the civil rights of law abiding New Yorkers (as well as residents of New Jersey and Connecticut) who have been the targets of massive, abusive surveillance practices based on their ethnic or faith background, and the NYPD’s false and misleading statements about these discriminatory policing activities. The seriousness of this problem cannot be overstated, and we urgently request that you conduct a prompt investigation into this matter.2

Last year, it was first reported that The Third Jihad, a film containing inaccurate and inflammatory depictions of Islam and Muslims seeking world domination, was being shown to NYPD officers.3 In response, the NYPD assured the public that the film had only been shown “a few times” to some officers.4 This claim was recently revealed to be false when newly released documents showed that the film was played for three months, viewed by almost 1,500 officers, and even more troubling, that its producers conducted a ninety-minute interview with Ray Kelly.5 The NYPD’s continuous false and misleading statements about its role in the production and dissemination of the film and its use of a patently bigoted film that paints the entire American Muslim community as a national security threat are not only insulting to millions of Americans, but also appears to be a misguided effort to train officers that using religion as a proxy for criminal activity is permissible.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time that the NYPD has demonstrated a pattern of blanket suspicion towards the American Muslim community based on race, ethnicity, or religious beliefs and practices. In August 2011, the Associated Press began publishing a series of investigative reports about the NYPD’s intelligence gathering program specifically targeting the American Muslim community, and the CIA’s involvement in this program.6 The NYPD was exposed as targeting the entire Muslim community – and approximately 250 mosques, schools, and businesses – without any evidence of wrongdoing.7 AP reports indicate that, as part of ethnic mapping programs throughout the city, the NYPD targets Muslim neighborhoods, maintains a list of “ancestries of interest,” and receives daily reports from informants who visit cafes and clubs to collect information about Muslim patrons.8 Most recently, on February 2, 2012, an AP report also revealed that the NYPD has engaged in rampant surveillance of thousands of Shi’a Muslims, their mosques, and community spaces in preparation for possible international conflict with Iran without any evidence of wrongdoing taking place in those institutions.

Taken together with Commissioner Kelly’s active participation in an interview for an offensive and hateful film that was subsequently used to train police officers, the above described measures uncover a disturbing picture about the NYPD’s institutional approach to American Muslim, Arab, South Asian, Iranian and Middle Eastern communities. Furthermore, such measures are the newest manifestation of the NYPD’s well documented discriminatory practices against other communities of color. The NYPD’s historical use of widespread ethnic, racial, and religious profiling to target Americans for stops, frisks, arrests, and surveillance is a threat to the rights of all Americans. It also erodes the public’s trust and confidence in the NYPD and instead sends the message that law enforcement is not accountable for upholding the law and rights of all Americans.

In response to the AP investigative reports, on October 5, 2011, at least seven members of the New York Senate requested that you conduct an investigation into the NYPD’s massive, abusive surveillance and mapping of the Muslim community.9 In light of Commissioner Kelly’s recent false statements and cover-up about The Third Jihad and the newly released information about wholesale surveillance of the Shi’a community, the need to hold the NYPD accountable for its flagrant use of discriminatory policing practices has never been more glaring and urgent.

We therefore respectfully request that your office undertakes an immediate investigation into the practices outlined above. We appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response.

Prosecutors not tackling terror-funding channels

Analyst says crackdown can happen if authorities have the will
An analyst says if the United States wants to stop the flow of funding to the Middle East terror group Hezbollah , there is a way.

Clare Lopez, senior fellow at the Center for Security Policy, said the issue is that U.S. officials haven’t pushed for that action.

“The Treasury Department has been at the forefront of some of this effort to track terror funding and so forth. Unfortunately the Department of Justice has basically thrown in the towel with its refusal to prosecute the remaining defendants on the unindicted co-conspirators list in the Holy Land Foundation Terrorism funding trial,” Lopez said.

Lopez said it’s already in the law that it is illegal to transfer cash to terror-sponsoring states.

“It seems to me that there has to be some measure in the law that gets to intent or gets to knowing the end user of the funds. Absolutely we have laws that prevent transfers of funds to states that are known to support terrorism,” Lopez said.

“I would say that this is an area that they (the federal authorities) haven’t focused on or that they may not have enough information,” she said.

WND reported last week on anti-terrorism analyst Sam Bazzi‘s research that asserts American Muslims are wiring money to their bank accounts in Lebanese banks and then giving “donations” to Hezbollah-supporting mosques in Lebanon.

A Hezbollah specialist and intelligence analyst who asked not to be named agrees that wire transfers are the method of choice. He says the U. S. should be able to track the cash transfers but believes there may be an intermediate stop.

“There probably are some direct personal transfers which easily could be monitored closely by U.S. authorities to accounts in Lebanon, although I would think that due to monitoring of such accounts any funds sent out would go through an intermediary bank, perhaps in a major European country, and then be picked up by Hezbollah cells there,” the specialist explained.

“Otherwise, U.S. authorities would be able to trace back funding to people resident in the U.S,” he said.

The specialist said other illegal activities also are linked.

“There is the issue of the diamond trade out of Africa and drug money used to raise funds in which Hezbollah is known to have linked up with drug cartels especially in the Tri-Border region in South America to raise and then send out that money from regions where it is easier to do so, other than the United States,” the analyst said.


“In fact, I’m aware of a case right now in which members of a Lebanese clan with sympathies to Hezbollah allegedly were involved in preparing to set up a drug ring to raise money for Hezbollah coffers. Due to very aggressive action by DEA and FBI, however, that avenue was shut down,” he said.

Drug trafficking as a means of raising money is one of the issues raised by a CBN news report in May in which American Enterprise Institute analyst Roger Noriega affirmed that Hezbollah is involved in a network that includes West Africa, Venezuela and the United States.

The analyst also cites the break-up of a Hezbollah-connected cigarette smuggling ring in 2000 and another one in 2004 as evidence of the terrorist group’s extensive effort at penetrating the U. S.

“You may recall that a few years ago there was a cigarette smuggling effort in the U.S. to raise money for Hezbollah but all of it was being monitored by U.S. law enforcement at the federal level. At some point, they decided to shut it down and arrest and jail perpetrators,” the specialist said.

“I believe that while there may be some effort, the monitoring from the U.S. makes it very precarious in sending cash,” the analyst said.

Neither the FBI or the DEA has responded to WND’s request for comment.

“The extent to which such funding comes from personal contributions of sympathizers in the U.S. may also be known by the Bureau but, in some cases, may not take action in an effort to monitor the path of that funding, to see how significant it is. Certainly, the cigarette smuggling case in Charlotte, N.C., was significant,” the specialist said.

“Money was raised by reaping significant profits by exploiting the difference in cigarette tax rates between North Carolina and Michigan. Hezbollah has many sympathizers in the U.S. and, frankly, I believe U.S. law enforcement is somewhat challenged to know who they are,” the specialist said.

“Law enforcement may have suspicions but once they’re in Lebanon, unless there is evidence, may have a difficult time knowing what they do and with whom they meet,” the specialist said.

Even though there are questions on the route the money may take, a common point in the analyses by both Bazzi and the specialist is the “summer trip abroad.”

“Many are professionals such as doctors, lawyers or everyday Lebanese-Americans, and they are not always Shia. Often, they will travel to Lebanon on their own dime and meet with Hezbollah officials to whom they may give cash,” the analyst continued.

The intelligence analyst added another factor in support for Hezbollah. He said that all of the donors may not be Shiite Muslims.

“They also may be Sunnis and even Christians, more out of support for Hezbollah in its avowed goal of protecting Lebanon from any possible Israeli invasion rather than adhering to any vow to destroy Israel or set up a caliphate, although both of these goals have changed in recent years,” the specialist said.

“Hezbollah will say that opposition to Israel does not equate to its destruction although they talk of destroying Israel if Lebanon is attacked,” he added.

Investigators warn terror support comes from inside U.S.


Mosques in the United States that follow the Shiite Islam of Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini are lending more than moral support to radical Islam; they are sending financial support, according to reports from investigators.

After all, it was the 2007 Holy Land Foundation trial that was called the largest terrorism financing prosecution in American history that set all sorts of precedents, including the naming of such prominent Muslim advocates as the Council on American-Islamic Relations as unindicted co-conspirators.

Dozens of convictions resulted after the government alleged the charity, the largest Islamic charity in the U.S. at the time, was raising money for Hamas.

Allegations that mosques now are raising funds for Hezbollah come from Sam Bazzi, director of the Islamic Counterterrorism Institute and others.

He reports he's been in mosques and has seen how the fundraising works.

"They are contributing to Hezbollah indirectly because every Shi'a Muslim has to pay a 20 percent yearly tax on their savings. This goes basically to the clerics as a donation," he said.

"Hezbollah supporters in the U. S. mosques send money to their bank accounts in Lebanon. When they go to Lebanon for vacation in the summer, they go to the clerics in the mosques in Lebanon and pay the Khums (offering) to the mosque in Lebanon. When they do that, they're giving it to Hezbollah," he said.

But the State Department in 1997 designated Hezbollah as a terrorist group.

Hezbollah, founded in Iran, has a stated goal of destroying the state of Israel. It has attacked American, French and Israeli forces, has kidnapped and held hostages, killed 241 in an attack on U.S. Marine barracks in Lebanon and reportedly exercises virtual control in Lebanon.

How to Detect and Block Abusive Web Crawlers

Ever wondered how to identify the IPs with the most hits on your web server (or, in other words, website)? Perhaps you want to identify the most active human users of your website(s) or abusive web robots. In all cases, the answer, of course, lies in your web server access log file! Here are the Linux/Unix commands I have been using to periodically detect digital culprits or enthusiastic users:

> cat <access-log-filename> | cut -d” ” -f1 | sort -n | uniq -c | sort -rn | head -n 10

These piped Linux/Unix commands provide me with a sorted list of IPs with the most hits as registered in the access log file. I can then run the whois command on the IPs to determine whether they are legitimate visitors (e.g., Google’s robots) or not (unwanted crawlers). To block offending IPs, you can use the iptables command:

> iptables -I INPUT -j DROP -s <ip-address>

The Wisdom of Yuval Tal

The assassination of Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in a hotel room in Dubai continues to develop. Apparently the credit cards used by the hit squad were issued by Payoneer, a New York based company established by Israelis. Of course that the assassins used financial products provided by Payoneer by no means implies that the company was involved in the violent events that took place in Dubai. However, Payoneer and its founders got their fair share of publicity out of this operation. Checking out the LinkedIn profile of its CEO, Yuval Tal, I was very impressed with the following quote from Theodore Roosevelt:

“It is not the critic who counts: not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly, who errs and comes up short again and again, because there is no effort without error or shortcoming, but who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions, who spends himself for a worthy cause; who, at the best, knows, in the end, the triumph of high achievement, and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat.”

True this is the wisdom of Roosevelt, but since Yuval Tal embraced it, it is his as well. Such wisdom makes my day any day!
